VCU triumphs over Richmond, 78-60

    RICHMOND, Va. — Max Shulga’s outstanding performance contributed significantly to VCU’s victory over Richmond with a score of 78-60 on Tuesday night.
    Shulga was a key player for the Rams, impressively hitting 4 out of 6 shots, including a perfect 3 for 3 from beyond the arc, and was nearly flawless at the free-throw line, making 5 out of 6 attempts for a total of 16 points. His efforts were well-supported by Joe Bamisile, who chipped in with 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Phillip Russell added 11 points, making 4 of 8 shots and 3 of 7 from three-point range. This win marked the Rams’ seventh consecutive victory, boosting their record to a commendable 23-5, with a 13-2 standing in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

    On the opposing team, the Richmond Spiders, Dusan Neskovic was at the forefront, scoring 16 points and providing four assists. Mikkel Tyne contributed 12 points, while B. Artis White also ended the game with 12 points and managed to steal the ball four times. Despite the efforts from the Spiders, the Rams maintained control of the game from early on, seizing the lead at the 14:51 mark in the first half and never relinquishing it. By halftime, VCU had built a substantial 51-33 advantage, with Russell achieving 11 points by that time.

    Looking ahead, VCU is set to play against Davidson at home on Friday, while Richmond will travel to face Dayton on Saturday.
