INDIANAPOLIS — Jason Peters, a celebrated offensive tackle who earned a remarkable nine Pro Bowl selections and two first-team All-Pro honors, is concluding his 21-year NFL career. Peters will now shift his focus to a front office position with the Seattle Seahawks, according to the team’s General Manager, John Schneider, who made the announcement on Tuesday.

During his remarks at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis, Schneider disclosed that Peters will assist Mo Kelly, the Seahawks’ vice president of player affairs. At 43 years old, Peters had been with the Seattle Seahawks for the past two years. In the 2023 season, he appeared in eight games and spent a portion of last season on the practice squad before being placed on injured reserve in December.

Though his NFL journey is drawing to a close, Peters is fondly remembered for his 11-year tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles, including the pinnacle achievement of winning the Super Bowl in the 2017 season.

Peters’ illustrious career began in 2004 when he entered the league as an undrafted free agent, hailing from Arkansas. Originally starting as a defensive lineman, he transitioned to tight end during his college years. Standing over 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighing over 300 pounds, Peters initially played as a tight end with the Buffalo Bills before making the switch to offensive tackle the following offseason. In 2005, he secured a spot as a starting right tackle, clinching the job over former first-round draft pick Mike Williams. By 2007, Peters was the left tackle and earned his first of several second-team All-Pro honors.

A contract disagreement eventually led to the Bills trading Peters to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2009, marking the beginning of a successful 12-year period with the team. His time with the Eagles was punctuated by a season-long hiatus in 2012 due to a torn Achilles’ tendon.

Following his years in Philadelphia, Peters also had stints with the Chicago Bears in 2021 and the Dallas Cowboys the following year. Throughout his career, Peters had 221 starts in 248 NFL games.
