Las Vegas Raiders standout defensive end Maxx Crosby finds himself in an intriguing position as his current contract offers no guaranteed money. However, talks of a renewed contract have surfaced, with general manager John Spytek expressing optimism that both parties are keen to reach a new agreement. Crosby had extended his contract for four years at $94 million in March 2022, stretching it through the 2026 season. Last May, the Raiders organization enhanced his pay with a $6 million raise for the 2024 season and an additional $1.2 million for the following season.

Spytek, speaking at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis, voiced confidence in Crosby’s future with the Raiders, stating, “I envision Maxx being a Raider for a long time here, and I think that’s what he wants, too.” This sentiment is echoed by team owner Mark Davis, who asserted, “Maxx isn’t going anywhere,” while at a Las Vegas Aces news conference in Henderson, Nevada. The commitment to keeping Crosby is strong, as Davis also owns the city’s WNBA franchise.

Crosby, an anchor for the Raiders’ defense over six seasons, earned second-team All-Pro honors in both 2021 and 2023. Throughout those years, he amassed 35 sacks and 58 tackles for loss. Despite suffering an ankle injury on September 15 against Baltimore, Crosby persevered and continued playing until deciding to undergo surgery with four games remaining last season. At that point, he had recorded 7.5 sacks and 17 tackles for a loss.

Known for his relentless work ethic and elite pass-rushing skills, Crosby embodies the spirit of the Raiders. Spytek praised Crosby’s contributions, saying, “I have an immense amount of respect for Maxx, the way he plays the game, the passion he plays with.” First-year coach Pete Carroll shares this admiration, highlighting Crosby as an exemplar of what it means to be a Raider.

Injuries have plagued the Raiders’ defensive line, with defensive end Malcolm Koonce missing the entire season due to a knee injury and tackle Christian Wilkins suffering a foot fracture just five games into the season. Crosby’s resilience and performance amidst these challenges underscore his value to the team and the determination to secure his place on the roster for years to come.
