PATTAYA, Thailand — Angel Yin delivered an impressive final round, remaining error-free to secure her victory at the LPGA Thailand tournament by a narrow margin over Japan’s Akie Iwai. This triumph marks Yin’s second title on the LPGA tour, achieved on Sunday.

The 26-year-old American recorded seven birdies without any bogeys, culminating in a remarkable four-round score of 28-under 260 at the Pattaya Old Course, located at Siam Country Club. This performance was sufficient to fend off a strong push from Iwai, who posted an impressive score of 61, the best score of the day.

This latest win adds to Yin’s growing accolades, having previously clinched the Buick LPGA Shanghai title in 2023. She has also finished as a runner-up in two major championships — the 2023 Chevron Championship and the 2019 U.S. Women’s Open.

Before this tournament, Yin’s highest finish in her previous four appearances at LPGA Thailand was tying for third place back in 2021.

Iwai demonstrated exceptional skill during the tournament, amassing ten birdies which brought the 22-year-old within striking distance of Yin with just two holes remaining. However, a single bogey at the par-4 17th hole ultimately hindered her chances for victory.

The top five was complemented by Thai competitors, with Jeeno Thitikul, a runner-up from 2021, scoring a 67 to finish third at 21-under 267. Additionally, Patty Tavatanakit, who shot a 65, and Moriya Jutanugarn with a score of 68, both tied for fourth place at 19-under 269.

This tournament kicks off the LPGA’s Asian swing, with the tour set to continue to Singapore and China in the upcoming weeks.
