OTTAWA, Ontario — The Montreal Canadiens emerged victorious against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night, securing a solid 5-2 win. Brendan Gallagher contributed significantly to the Canadiens’ success with a goal and an assist, while goaltender Sam Montembeault made 25 crucial saves throughout the game.

Other standout performances for the Canadiens came from Cole Caufield, Patrick Laine, Josh Anderson, and Juraj Slafkovsky, each contributing to the score sheet. Additionally, Nick Suzuki provided two assists, further bolstering the team’s offensive tactics.

On the other side of the rink, Tim Stutzle continued to impress, extending his points streak to nine games with a goal and an assist for Ottawa. Jake Sanderson managed to net the second goal for the Senators, but overall, the team struggled to gain any momentum.

Ottawa started with Linus Ullmark in goal; however, he was pulled midway through the second period after surrendering five goals on just 15 shots. Anton Forsberg stepped in as goalkeeper and successfully handled all ten shots that came his way for the remainder of the match.

In terms of takeaways from the game, the Canadiens were able to snap their three-game losing streak, while the Senators faced their fourth consecutive defeat. Ottawa’s defense has recently been a concern, as they have allowed five goals in each of their last three outings, totaling 19 goals against in their previous four games.

A pivotal moment in the match occurred just 19 seconds after Stutzle managed to tie things up; Patrick Laine scored during a power play with 3:47 remaining in the second period, providing the Canadiens with a crucial 3-2 lead.

Looking ahead, the Canadiens will host the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night, while the Senators are set to face the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday evening.
