ST. LOUIS — In an impressive performance, Robbie Avila scored 22 points, helping lead Saint Louis to a commanding 81-66 victory over Rhode Island on Saturday.
Avila contributed not only in scoring but also pulled down six rebounds for the Billikens, who improve to 15-12 overall and 8-6 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Gibson Jimerson also made a significant impact with 21 points while connecting on 7 of his 18 shots, including 5 of 14 attempts from beyond the arc. He also contributed 11 rebounds to the team’s efforts. Amari McCottry chipped in with 13 points, showcasing his efficiency by shooting 4 for 6 from the field, including 2 for 3 from three-point territory, alongside a perfect 3 for 3 from the charity stripe.
For the Rams, Jamarques Lawrence emerged as the leading scorer, finishing the game with 19 points. David Green supported the team with 16 points, while Sebastian Thomas made his contribution felt with eight points, nine assists, and two steals.
Looking ahead, Saint Louis is set to compete on the road against Davidson this Tuesday, while Rhode Island will be back in action at home, facing off against Dayton on Wednesday.
