PHILADELPHIA – In a decisive matchup, Kobe Magee led the Drexel University Dragons to a 64-55 victory over the Charleston Cougars on Saturday, scoring 19 points.
Magee had an effective shooting night, going 6 for 15 from the field, including 4 for 11 from beyond the arc, and added 3 of 6 from the charity stripe. Alongside him, Jason Drake contributed 12 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Cole Hargrove added another 11 points, shooting 5 of 9 from the field and 1 for 3 from the free-throw line.
For the Cougars, Ante Brzovic was the standout performer, netting 16 points and pulling down six rebounds. Deywilk Tavarez also contributed with 11 points as Charleston sought to narrow the gap.
Drexel established control early in the game, taking the lead at 15:04 in the first half and maintaining it throughout. By halftime, the Dragons held a comfortable 30-21 advantage with Magee accounting for 14 of those points.
In the second half, Drexel surged ahead with a dominant 17-2 run, extending their lead to 37-21 just under 18 minutes left in the game. This momentum proved too much for the Cougars to overcome as Drexel secured the victory, improving their record to 15-14 overall and 7-9 in the Coastal Athletic Association.
This win marks an important step for Drexel in their season, showcasing their ability to capitalize on offensive runs and maintain defensive pressure against formidable opponents.
