TURIN, Italy — In a recent match against AC Milan, Christian Pulisic, the forward for the United States national team, experienced a setback by missing a penalty kick for the first time in his professional career.
During the Serie A encounter, Pulisic’s penalty attempt was thwarted as Torino goalkeeper Sergej Milinkovic-Savic dove to his right, successfully deflecting the low shot during the first half of the game.
This miss broke Pulisic’s impressive streak of 12 consecutive penalties that he had converted. His successful runs included seven goals for the U.S. national team, three for AC Milan, one for Borussia Dortmund’s youth team, and another for the U.S. Under-17 squad, dating back to 2014.
On the other hand, Milinkovic-Savic has shown remarkable prowess in goal this season, having saved four out of five penalties he has faced, contributing to his team’s defensive efforts.
