ALTUS, Okla. — Eddie Fisher, a prominent right-handed pitcher whose 15-year career in Major League Baseball featured an All-Star appearance with the Chicago White Sox and a World Series championship with the Baltimore Orioles, has passed away at the age of 88.

The Lowell-Tims Funeral Home & Crematory in Altus has reported that Fisher succumbed to a short illness on Monday.

Born on July 16, 1936, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Fisher made his professional debut with the San Francisco Giants in 1959. Throughout his career, he played for various teams, including the White Sox, Orioles, Cleveland Indians, California Angels, and St. Louis Cardinals.

Fisher primarily served as a relief pitcher, and he achieved significant recognition in 1965 when he was named an All-Star. That season, he recorded an impressive 15 wins against 7 losses, boasting a 2.40 earned run average (ERA) and setting an American League record with 82 game appearances. The following year, he contributed to the Orioles’ success as they secured the World Series title.
