Ford issues a recall for 240,000 Explorers and Aviators over defective seat belt systems.

Ford is initiating a recall affecting approximately 240,000 SUVs, specifically the Explorer and the Lincoln Aviator, due to an issue regarding the incorrect securing of seat belt anchors.

As highlighted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a seat belt or buckle that is not securely fastened may fail to adequately protect passengers during an accident, thereby heightening the risk of injuries.

At this time, Ford has stated that they have not received any reports indicating that accidents or injuries have occurred as a result of the faulty seat belt systems.

The specific models affected by this recall belong to the 2020 and 2021 production years. Within this recall, approximately 216,000 Explorers and 24,000 Aviators are involved.

Ford plans to notify vehicle owners in late March, advising them to bring their vehicles to a Ford or Lincoln dealership for a comprehensive examination. Should the inspection reveal that the anchor bolts are indeed improperly secured, the necessary parts will be replaced at no cost to the owner.

For further inquiries, owners can reach out to Ford’s customer service hotline at 866-436-7332, using recall number 25S09 for reference. Additionally, they may contact the NHTSA vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit the NHTSA website for more information.
