Ford issues recall for 240,000 Explorers and Aviators over defective seat belt system

0

Ford has announced a recall affecting approximately 240,000 Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs due to issues with the seat belt anchors, which were not secured correctly.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has indicated that loose seat belts or buckles could fail to restrain occupants during an accident, thus heightening the risk of injury in such incidents.

Currently, Ford has reported no known instances of accidents or injuries resulting from the faulty seat belt assemblies.

The recall pertains to Explorers and Aviators from the 2020 and 2021 model years, specifically involving about 216,000 Explorers and 24,000 Aviators.

Affected vehicle owners are anticipated to receive notification from Ford in late March, directing them to bring their cars to a Ford or Lincoln dealership for an assessment.

If the inspection reveals that the anchor bolts are incorrectly secured, the problematic components will be replaced at no charge to the vehicle owners.

To address concerns or for further information, vehicle owners can reach out to Ford customer service at 866-436-7332, referencing the recall number 25S09.

Additionally, they can contact the NHTSA vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or check the NHTSA website for more details.
