In a recent draw held in Nyon, Switzerland, Chelsea found itself matched against Copenhagen for the round of 16 in the UEFA Conference League. This outcome notably keeps them apart from the strong Italian side, Fiorentina, which is positioned in a different section of the bracket.

Chelsea has proven to be quite formidable, having emerged victorious in all six of their matches during the league phase, an impressive feat considering they did so without utilizing their key player, Cole Palmer. As a result, the London team secured the top seeding in the knockout-style bracket that resembles a tennis tournament format.

Historically, Chelsea has previously faced Copenhagen in the Champions League round of 16 and came out on top. For this upcoming matchup, Chelsea will travel to Denmark for the first leg on March 6, and they are scheduled to host the second leg one week later at home.

Fiorentina, who has faced heartbreak in the finals of the Conference League twice in the previous years, has drawn Panathinaikos in the current round. Because of this arrangement, Fiorentina won’t have another chance against Chelsea until a potential clash in the final scheduled for May 28 in Wroclaw, Poland.

Should Chelsea manage to get past Copenhagen, their route to the final could continue through Poland, as they would likely face either Legia Warsaw or Molde in the quarterfinals.

Copenhagen recently secured their place in the knockout round by overcoming Heidenheim from Germany. In contrast, French clubs were absent from the league phase altogether. Meanwhile, Spain’s sole representative, Real Betis, has been matched up against the second-seeded Vitoria Guimaraes from Portugal.

Additional matchups from the draw included: Jagiellonia Bialystok facing off against Cercle Brugge, Celje taking on Lugano, Pafos against Djurgarden, and Borac Banja Luka challenging Rapid Vienna.
