OGDEN, Utah — In an exciting matchup on Thursday night, Sacramento State secured an 80-77 win against Weber State, thanks in no small part to Jacob Holt’s impressive performance, which included 27 points and 13 rebounds.
Holt’s clutch three-pointer with just 36 seconds remaining increased the Hornets’ lead to 79-75. A timely free throw from Bailey Nunn sealed the victory by pushing the margin to five points just four seconds before the final buzzer.
Lachlan Brewer also made significant contributions, scoring 17 points with an exceptional shooting performance—hitting 6 of 7 attempts, including 5 of 6 from three-point range—for Sacramento State (7-20, 3-11 Big Sky Conference). In addition, Emil Skytta rounded out the scoring with 14 points, connecting on 6 of 10 field goals and 2 of 5 from beyond the arc. This win marked a much-needed end to a seven-game losing streak for the Hornets.
On the opposing side, Viljami Vartiainen led Weber State (9-19, 3-11) with 24 points. Blaise Threatt supported the Wildcats with 20 points, six rebounds, eight assists, and three steals, while Trevor Henning contributed 10 points and two steals to the effort.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to compete again on Saturday. Sacramento State will travel to face Idaho State, while Weber State will host Portland State.
