BOSTON — In a notable matchup on Thursday night, Ante Brzovic was a key player for Charleston, contributing 20 points to their 73-62 victory over Northeastern.
Brzovic also grabbed six rebounds, helping the Cougars improve to an impressive 21-7 overall and 11-4 in the Coastal Athletic Association. Deywilk Tavarez supported the team with 13 points from 5 of 12 shooting, including a solid 3 of 7 from three-point range, while also contributing 11 rebounds. Additionally, Derrin Boyd finished with 12 points, completing 5 of 13 attempts from the floor, including 2 for 5 from beyond the arc.
For the Huskies, Harold Woods was a standout performer, finishing the game with 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Rashad King added 15 points along with two steals, while JB Frankel supported with 11 points and seven rebounds.
Charleston seized the lead early in the first half, pulling ahead with 13:19 remaining, ultimately holding a 39-33 advantage at halftime. Brzovic was instrumental during these crucial moments, netting 10 points before halftime. In the second period, Charleston surged ahead with an 8-0 run, extending their lead to 52-40 with 14:31 left in the game, and Brzovic continued to shine, scoring another 10 points in the half.
Looking ahead, Charleston is set to face Drexel on the road Saturday, while Northeastern will head to Monmouth for their next contest on Monday.
