NORFOLK, Va. — Obinna Anochili-Killen stood out with a remarkable performance as Marshall triumphed over Old Dominion 81-77 on Thursday night.
Anochili-Killen contributed significantly with a total of 24 points and made an impressive four blocks for the Thundering Herd, who improved their season record to 16-12 and are now positioned at 9-6 in the Sun Belt Conference.
Mikal Dawson also played a crucial role, achieving 15 points while shooting 6 of 12 from the field, including a challenging 1 for 7 from beyond the arc. In addition, he contributed with seven rebounds and five assists.
Dezayne Mingo made his presence felt on the court as well, finishing with 12 points after shooting 5 of 8, while he additionally grabbed eight rebounds and dished out six assists.
On the other side of the court, Sean Durugordon led the Monarchs, notching 19 points to go along with six rebounds and four steals. Old Dominion’s Robert Davis Jr. added 18 points to the scoreboard, while R.J. Blakney contributed 16 points, six rebounds, and two steals to their effort.
In terms of what’s next, both teams are set to return to action on Saturday. Marshall will travel to face Appalachian State, while Old Dominion will host Georgia State.
