Bears reveal coaching staff under new head coach Ben Johnson

Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson is gearing up for his inaugural season with an extensive staff of 28 assistants, as announced by the team on Thursday.

Among these assistants are new offensive and defensive coordinators Declan Doyle and Dennis Allen, both of whom were brought on board last month. Richard Hightower remains as the special teams coordinator; he is one of eight assistants retained from the previous coaching team led by Matt Eberflus.

The coaching roster has also seen several newcomers, including Eric Bieniemy, the former offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Commanders, who will take on the role of running backs coach. In addition, Antwaan Randle El comes in as the assistant head coach and wide receivers coach, while Al Harris, a Pro Bowl cornerback from the Green Bay Packers, will serve as the defensive backs coach.

Johnson faces a significant challenge as he aims to revitalize a team that last season ended at the bottom of the NFC North with a 5-12 record. His reputation as a premier coaching candidate soared after he spent the previous three years serving as the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions.
