TAMPA, Fla. — On Thursday, the New York Yankees announced a contract extension with manager Aaron Boone that will keep him at the helm through the 2027 season.

Entering his eighth year in this role, Boone previously had his 2025 option confirmed by the team in November.

Under his leadership, the Yankees have achieved a record of 603 wins to 429 losses, securing three American League East titles and clinching one pennant. The team made its return to the World Series last year, marking their first appearance since 2009, although they ultimately fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers in five games.

With this achievement, Boone joins an elite group, becoming only the third Yankees manager, along with Casey Stengel and Joe Torre, to guide the team to the playoffs in six of his first seven seasons.

Previously, Boone signed a three-year contract agreement in October 2021, which included an option for the 2025 season.

His playing career as a major league third baseman spanned from 1997 to 2009. Boone earned All-Star honors in 2003 when the Yankees acquired him from the Cincinnati Reds during the trading period. Notably, his dramatic home run in the 11th inning against Boston’s Tim Wakefield during Game 7 of the American League Championship Series won the pennant for New York.

This extension signifies the Yankees’ confidence in Boone’s leadership as they continue to pursue success in the competitive landscape of Major League Baseball.
