In Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic, a tragic incident occurred on Thursday when a knife-wielding assailant fatally attacked two women at a shopping center. Authorities have since arrested a teenage suspect in connection with the crime.
The reason behind the attack remains unclear at this time, according to officials. The incident took place in a location situated approximately 100 kilometers (60 miles) east of Prague. Local police reported via social media that there were no signs pointing to the incident being a “terror attack,” and preliminary investigations suggested that the victims appeared to have been selected at random.
The identities of the deceased women have not been disclosed as of yet. Initially, reports indicated that one of the victims sustained serious injuries; however, police later confirmed that both women had died from their wounds.
Following the attack, law enforcement apprehended a 16-year-old Czech national about one kilometer (less than a mile) from the site of the incident. A knife believed to be involved in the attack was recovered in the vicinity.
