Tyson Degenhart turned in an impressive performance, scoring 32 points as the Boise State Broncos triumphed over the New Mexico Lobos with a score of 86-78 on Wednesday evening.
Degenhart complemented his scoring effort by grabbing seven rebounds, helping the Broncos improve their record to 18 wins and 8 losses overall, with a 10-5 standing in the Mountain West Conference. Other notable contributors for Boise State included Pearson Carmichael, who finished the game with 21 points and five rebounds, as well as Alvaro Cardenas, who effectively shot 3 for 7 from the field, including 3 for 6 from beyond the arc, to add 11 points to the team’s total.
On the opposing side, the Lobos, who now hold a record of 22-5, with a conference mark of 14-2, were led by Filip Borovicanin, scoring 18 points. Nelly Junior Joseph also had a strong showing with 17 points, eight rebounds, and two steals. Donovan Dent matched that scoring effort with 17 points as well, while contributing 11 assists and two blocks. This defeat snapped New Mexico’s impressive eight-game winning streak.
Boise State took control of the game late in the first half, claiming the lead with just 2:27 remaining before halftime, finishing the period ahead 42-39. Degenhart was pivotal during this stretch, leading his team with 14 first-half points. The Broncos then built upon their lead in the second half, turning a seven-point advantage into a commanding 19-point cushion during a 12-0 scoring blitz, pushing their lead to 64-45 with 12:00 left in the game. In a remarkable second-half performance, Degenhart contributed 18 additional points for Boise State.
