NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tytan Anderson delivered an impressive performance with 27 points as Northern Iowa secured an 82-75 victory over Belmont, marking their sixth consecutive win.
Anderson also contributed significantly on the boards, pulling down nine rebounds for the Panthers, who now hold a record of 19-9 overall and 13-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Ben Schwieger played a strong supporting role, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, while Trey Campbell, despite a challenging shooting night, managed to score 12 points, going 5 for 16 from the field and only 2 for 9 from beyond the three-point line.
The Bruins, now at 18-10 overall and 10-7 in conference play, relied on Carter Whitt for their offense; he led the team with 16 points, along with contributing six rebounds and six assists. Brody Peebles supported the effort with 14 points, and Jonathan Pierre added another 13 points to the scoreboard.
In the first half, Schwieger accounted for nine points, but Northern Iowa found themselves trailing at halftime, down 44-37. However, in the second half, Anderson exploded with 18 points, helping to turn the game around for the Panthers.
Looking ahead, Northern Iowa will face Drake at home on Sunday, while Belmont will be preparing to host Indiana State on Saturday.
