Georgetown secured a notable victory over Providence with a final score of 93-72, thanks to an impressive performance from Micah Peavy, who scored 30 points on Wednesday night.
Peavy also filled the stat sheet, recording seven rebounds, seven assists, and six steals, contributing significantly to the Hoyas’ efforts, who now have a record of 16-10 with 7-8 in Big East Conference play.
Jayden Epps also made an impact, scoring 18 points by hitting five of his nine shots, including two of five from beyond the arc, and he was perfect from the free-throw line, going six for six. Drew Fielder supported the team’s success by scoring 17 points, going four for eleven from the field, and hitting two of seven three-pointers, alongside a perfect free-throw performance of seven for seven, while he also collected nine rebounds.
On the other hand, Bensley Joseph led the scoring for Providence, finishing with 25 points, which included six rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Justyn Fernandez and Jayden Pierre chipped in with 11 and 10 points, respectively, but their contributions could not turn the tide in favor of the Friars, who now hold a record of 12-15 and 6-10 in the conference.
The game shifted in favor of Georgetown around 7:53 before halftime when they took the lead, going into intermission with a solid 48-31 advantage, with Peavy scoring 19 of his points during that half. In the second half, Epps stepped up as well, leading his team with 13 points.
Looking ahead, Georgetown is set to face Creighton on the road this Sunday, while Providence will head to Marquette for their next game on Tuesday.
