PHILADELPHIA — In a closely contested matchup on Wednesday night, Mikkel Tyne spearheaded Richmond’s victory over La Salle with an impressive performance, scoring 17 points in the Spiders’ 63-58 triumph.
Tyne showcased his shooting accuracy, completing 6 of 12 attempts from the field, with a remarkable 5 for 6 from beyond the arc. The victory improved Richmond’s record to 10-17 overall and 5-9 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. B. Artis White contributed significantly as well, recording 12 points, where he shot 3 for 8, including just one successful attempt out of six from the three-point line, and he was a perfect 5 for 6 from the charity stripe. He also added three steals to his performance. Mike Walz rounded out the scoring for Richmond with 11 points on 5 for 10 shooting, making one out of three from three-point territory.
For La Salle, Deuce Jones was the standout player, leading the team with 16 points while also dishing out seven assists. Mac Etienne contributed 14 points along with six rebounds, while Jahlil White made a notable impact with 10 points, 13 rebounds, along with four assists and two steals.
In the first half, Walz was key for Richmond, scoring seven points, yet the Spiders found themselves trailing 35-30 at halftime. The second half saw Tyne take charge, scoring 11 crucial points that helped secure the win.
Looking ahead, Richmond is set to face Saint Joseph’s in an away game this upcoming Saturday, while La Salle will be back at home to take on Duquesne next Wednesday.
