University Park, Pa. — Yanic Konan Niederhauser and Zach Hicks each contributed 19 points, while D’Marco Dunn chipped in 17, leading Penn State to a decisive 89-72 victory over Nebraska on Wednesday night. This win marked the end of a frustrating seven-game streak without a win for the Nittany Lions.

With this triumph, Penn State improved its record to 14-13 overall and 4-12 in the Big Ten, marking their first victory since defeating Rutgers 80-72 on January 20, which had also ended a four-game losing run.

The home team got off to a strong start, embarking on a 14-2 run that set the tone for the game. By the 12:43 mark in the first half, the Nittany Lions established a double-digit lead, which they would maintain for the remainder of the contest.

In a standout performance, Konan Niederhauser notched 15 points in the first half alone, making all five of his shots, helping Penn State build a commanding lead of 50-27 at halftime.

The Nittany Lions demonstrated exceptional shooting, finishing the first half at an impressive 66.7 percent from the field and sinking 11 of their 12 free-throw attempts.

As for the second half, Penn State continued to dominate, never allowing their lead to fall below 16 points.

Freddie Dilione V added 12 points, while both Ace Baldwin Jr. and Nick Kern Jr. contributed 10 points each to the team’s scoring effort.

On the Nebraska side, Connor Essegian led his team with 20 points, and Andrew Morgan recorded a season-high 18 points. Brice Williams chipped in with 17 points and five assists.

The Cornhuskers struggled with ball control, committing 11 turnovers and managing only nine field goals during the first half.

Overall, Nebraska finished the game with 28 successful shots out of 54 attempts, translating to a shooting percentage of 52.9, while they also ended with 16 turnovers.

Looking ahead, Penn State will head on the road to face Minnesota this Saturday. Meanwhile, Nebraska will have the weekend off and is set to host No. 12 Michigan on Monday.
