NEW YORK — Cynthia Erivo, renowned star of “Wicked,” has been selected to host the upcoming Tony Awards. Known for her impressive accolades, Erivo will be transitioning from receiving awards to bestowing them.

In an enthusiastic statement, Erivo expressed her pride and excitement about taking on this significant role. “I am so proud and excited to take on this glorious honor,” she stated. She further conveyed her eagerness to guide the theater community through an evening dedicated to celebrating the outstanding performances of the past year. “I hope I can rise to the occasion,” she added.
