MARTIN, Tenn. — In an exciting matchup on Tuesday night, Knute Wood’s outstanding performance propelled Tennessee State to a victory over UT Martin with a final score of 86-75.
Wood was instrumental in the Tigers’ success, scoring 19 points with an impressive shooting performance that included 6-of-9 from the field and 5-of-8 from three-point range. His contribution was critical to Tennessee State’s (14-14, 10-7 in the Ohio Valley Conference) overall victory. Teammate Ron Jessamy also made significant contributions, achieving a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Carlous Williams further supported the team’s efforts, finishing with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting and a solid 5-of-6 from the free-throw line, along with six rebounds.
For the Skyhawks (12-16, 8-9), Tarence Guinyard led the scoring with 20 points, complemented by three steals. Josue Grullon was another key player for UT Martin, contributing 12 points, while Carlos Cortijo also made his mark with 10 points and four assists.
