LOS ANGELES — Earlier this month, an unfortunate incident occurred at the home of LAFC forward Olivier Giroud, as police reported a burglary. The 38-year-old French international relocated to Los Angeles last year when he joined LAFC in May.
According to the Los Angeles police, they responded to a report of a window being smashed at a residence in west LA on February 5. The homeowner alerted authorities after discovering a broken window in an upstairs bedroom, indicating that a burglary had taken place.
Seth Burton, a spokesperson for LAFC, declined to offer further commentary regarding Giroud and the incident, merely acknowledging the burglary report.
Giroud has made a significant mark on the soccer world, highlighted by his remarkable six-year tenure with Arsenal from 2012 to 2018, followed by stints at Chelsea and AC Milan, each lasting three years. Throughout his club career, he has netted an impressive 285 goals across 716 matches, earning numerous accolades, including a UEFA Champions League title with Chelsea three years ago.
Additionally, Giroud has enjoyed a successful run with the French national team, where he has become the top scorer with a record of 57 goals. He was also a key player for the French squad that won the World Cup in 2018.
Currently, Giroud is focused on preparing for the upcoming Major League Soccer season with LAFC. The team is set to kick off their campaign against Minnesota United this Saturday at home.
