Ames, Iowa – In a commanding performance, the No. 8 ranked Iowa State Cyclones triumphed over the Colorado Buffaloes with a score of 79-65 on Tuesday night. This victory marked Iowa State’s third win against Colorado this season, having previously defeated them 99-71 at the Maui Invitational in November and 79-69 in Boulder in December.

Milan Momcilovic and Dishon Jackson emerged as standout players, each contributing 13 points to the team’s effort. Meanwhile, Joshua Jefferson and Tamin Lipsey added 12 points a piece, and Nate Heise made a significant impact off the bench with a season-best 11 points.

For the Buffaloes, who now hold a record of 10-16 overall and 1-14 in conference play, Bangot Dak shone brightly on the court with a career-high of 20 points, while Harrison Carrington chipped in 11 points.

The Buffaloes faced challenges from beyond the arc, entering the game ranked last in the conference for 3-point shooting at just 33.1%. They struggled to find their rhythm early, shooting only 1-for-9 from three-point range in the first half and concluding the game at 4-of-17 overall.

On the other hand, the Cyclones not only secured a double-digit victory over Colorado for the third time this season but also faced some hurdles of their own, committing 14 turnovers and converting only 21 of 31 free-throw attempts, which was also a season high.

A critical moment in the game came when Iowa State orchestrated two 10-0 runs during the first half, which played a significant role in establishing their lead.

Statistically, the Cyclones excelled in their perimeter shooting, hitting 10-of-21 from three-point range (47.6%), which tied for their second-best shooting performance from long distance this season. Notably, six different players contributed to the three-point tally.

Looking ahead, the Cyclones are set to play against No. 5 Houston on Saturday. Simultaneously, the Buffaloes will host Baylor on the same day.
