LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jack Karasinski played a pivotal role in leading Bellarmine to a triumphant 94-68 victory over Austin Peay on Tuesday night, marking the end of a grueling 17-game losing streak for the Knights.
This victory represents Bellarmine’s first win since they defeated Brescia, an NAIA team, in an earlier match on December 7, where they won 94-66. The Knights had not celebrated a win against a Division I opponent since November 23, when they took down Bowling Green.
In an impressive performance, Karasinski recorded 23 points, shooting 80% from the field with 8 of 10 attempts and perfecting all 6 of his free throws. Alongside him, Landin Hacker contributed significantly with 19 points and secured six rebounds, while Myles Watkins matched Hacker’s output with 19 points, hitting 8 of 11 from the field and 2 of 3 on free throws.
For Austin Peay (12-16, 7-8), Tate McCubbin was the standout player, scoring an impressive 31 points to lead his team. Sai Witt also made a notable contribution, finishing the game with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Both teams are scheduled to return to action on Thursday, with Bellarmine slated to host Eastern Kentucky and Austin Peay set to visit Queens for their upcoming matchups.
