FORT MYERS, Fla. — In a strong performance on Tuesday night, FGCU emerged victorious over Jacksonville with a score of 72-56, thanks to Michael Duax contributing 18 points.
Duax not only led the scoring but also made significant defensive plays, accumulating three steals for the Eagles, who improved to a record of 15-13 and 10-5 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Keeshawn Kellman delivered an impressive performance as well, netting 15 points with an efficient shooting display, going 4 of 9 from the field and hitting 7 of 8 free throws. In addition, Kellman showcased his versatility by securing 12 rebounds and blocking five shots. Zavian McLean added to the scoring with 13 points, managing to shoot 4 of 10 overall, including two 3-pointers from three attempts, while also converting 3 of 4 free throws.
For Jacksonville, who now holds a record of 16-11 and 10-5 in the conference, Robert McCray led the team with a solid performance, finishing with 12 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks. Jakari Spence also contributed 12 points, along with two steals, while Zimi Nwokeji matched this scoring output by adding another 12 points along with two blocks.
Both teams are set to return to action on Thursday; FGCU will travel to Stetson, while Jacksonville will face off against North Florida away from home.
