Wall Street reached new heights as U.S. stock indexes experienced a day of varied trading results.
The S&P 500 saw a modest increase of 0.2% on Tuesday, closing just above its previous all-time high from last month. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average remained nearly unchanged, and the Nasdaq composite gained 0.1%.

A significant boost for the market came from Entergy, the electric company that reported profits exceeding analysts’ expectations. This positive performance contributed to an ongoing trend among U.S. companies that have achieved higher-than-anticipated profits for the end of 2024. This growth helped mitigate the impact of Meta Platforms’ first stock decline in 21 trading sessions. Additionally, bond market activity saw an uptick in Treasury yields.

On Tuesday, the market figures reflected the following changes:

The S&P 500 advanced by 14.95 points, or 0.2%, ending the day at 6,129.58.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 10.26 points, or less than 0.1%, closing at 44,556.34.

The Nasdaq composite added 14.49 points, or 0.1%, to reach 20,041.26.

The Russell 2000 index, which tracks smaller companies, grew by 10.37 points, or 0.5%, finishing at 2,290.35.

Reviewing the year’s performance, the S&P 500 has risen by 247.95 points, reflecting an increase of 4.2%.
The Dow is up 2,012.12 points, or 4.7%.
The Nasdaq has experienced a gain of 730.47 points, equating to a 3.8% rise.
