MILAN — Former Feyenoord striker Santiago Giménez showcased his remarkable scoring ability in the Champions League once again, this time netting a goal against his former team.
Giménez, who made a move to AC Milan from Feyenoord last month for a fee of 30 million euros (approximately $31 million), wasted no time making an impact.
He found the back of the net just 40 seconds into the second leg of their Champions League knockout playoff on Tuesday, helping his new team make an immediate statement.
The 23-year-old forward from Mexico expressed remorse after scoring, raising his hands in an apologetic gesture as he headed the ball in from close range.
This goal marked Giménez’s sixth in just seven Champions League appearances this season, all of which had previously been scored during his tenure at Feyenoord.
Additionally, he has already contributed two goals for AC Milan in Serie A.
In their previous meeting, the Dutch side managed a 1-0 victory in the first leg, capitalizing on an unusual mistake made by Milan’s goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
With his impressive performance, Giménez continues to establish himself as a key player for Milan as they progress in the prestigious tournament.
The young forward’s journey in the Champions League is proving to generate excitement as he transitions into this new chapter of his career.
