NEW ORLEANS – Byron Ireland delivered a stellar performance, contributing 19 points as Nicholls secured a convincing victory against New Orleans, finishing 78-62 in a game held on Monday night.
Ireland was impressive from the field, hitting 8 of 11 shots, although he only managed 1 of 3 from the free-throw line, which helped the Colonels improve their record to 16-11, including a 10-6 mark in the Southland Conference.
Trae English also played a vital role, scoring 17 points and providing eight assists, while Robert Brown III made his mark with three successful three-point attempts, totaling 15 points.
On the other side, the Privateers struggled despite some notable individual performances. Michael Thomas, Leland Coleman, and Kohen Rowbatham each contributed 12 points for New Orleans, which has now dropped nine straight games. Thomas’s efforts were particularly noteworthy, as he also collected 17 rebounds, achieving a double-double in the process.
Nicholls demonstrated their strength and cohesion, whereas New Orleans continues to search for solutions amid their ongoing losing streak.
