BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — On Sunday evening, Yaxel Lendeborg delivered an impressive performance, contributing 21 points and grabbing 19 rebounds to lead UAB to an 85-78 victory over South Florida.
Lendeborg’s standout game also included six blocked shots for the Blazers, who now have a season record of 16 wins and 9 losses, and a conference record of 9-3 in the American Athletic Conference. Ja’Borri McGhee also shined, scoring 20 points with an efficient 7-for-9 shooting. Alejandro Vasquez contributed with 15 points and secured nine rebounds.
For the Bulls, who hold a record of 12-14 overall and 5-8 in conference play, Jamille Reynolds was the star, posting a career-high 27 points while tying his personal best with 14 rebounds. Additional support came from Jayden Reid, who contributed 16 points, four assists, and three steals, while Kobe Knox added 10 points to the team’s effort.
UAB seized the lead with just over 13 minutes remaining in the first half and held onto it firmly throughout the game. By halftime, the Blazers led 47-37, highlighted by McGhee’s impressive tally of 14 points in that half.
