TUCSON, Ariz. — Sedona Prince led the way for No. 11 TCU, putting up 22 points on an impressive 9-for-11 shooting and capturing 12 rebounds, ultimately guiding the Horned Frogs to an 85-73 victory over Arizona on Sunday.
In addition to Prince’s standout performance, Madison Connor contributed significantly by hitting 7 of 10 attempts, including four successful three-pointers, finishing the game with 18 points for TCU, which now stands at 24-3, with a conference record of 12-2 in the Big 12. Aaliyah Roberson matched her career high by sinking four three-pointers and tallied a season-best 16 points, while Hailey Van Lith supported the team with 11 points.
On the opposing side, Skylar Jones set a new personal best by scoring 30 points for Arizona (15-12, 6-8). Her shooting was remarkable, as she made 9 of 11 shots from the field, went 4-for-4 from three-point range, and converted 8 of 9 free throws. Paulina Paris contributed with 14 points, and freshman Lauryn Swann added 12 points, making 4 of 5 from beyond the arc.
The game took a turn late in the third quarter when Paris made a layup that tied the score at 54. However, Van Lith quickly responded with a layup, igniting an 11-3 run that allowed TCU to outpace Arizona for the remainder of the game.
Although Jones managed to cut Arizona’s deficit to five points with a three-pointer early in the fourth quarter, Prince immediately countered with a layup, allowing TCU to maintain control.
Notably, Jada Williams, who has been Arizona’s leading scorer this season with an average of 12.5 points per game, did not participate due to a foot injury.
TCU showcased an outstanding shooting performance, hitting 56% from the field and landing 11 three-pointers throughout the match. The Horned Frogs have proven to be formidable when they achieve double digits in three-pointers, boasting a perfect record of 14-0 this season under those circumstances.
Arizona currently ranks second in the Big 12 and 39th nationally in steals per game with an average of 10.5, while coming in third in the league and 62nd nationwide in turnovers forced per game at 19.04.
Next, TCU will head on the road for a match on Wednesday against Arizona State, while Arizona is set to host BYU on the same day.
