EVANSTON, Ill. — In a dramatic comeback, Nebraska triumphed over Northwestern with a score of 68-64 on Sunday, overcoming a daunting 20-point deficit. Brice Williams was a crucial contributor for Nebraska, netting 15 of his total 21 points during the second half of the game, while Juwan Gary added 13 out of his 17 points in the same period.

The game began with Northwestern taking a commanding lead, highlighted by a 3-pointer from Ty Berry shortly after halftime, followed by a tip-in from Nick Martinelli, setting the score at 41-21 within just 45 seconds. However, Nebraska quickly found momentum as Gary kicked off an 11-0 run with a 3-pointer, helping to narrow the gap to 50-43 with 11:47 left on the clock. Williams then contributed two jump shots, while Gary added two free throws and a basket, bringing the Cornhuskers to a tie at 54 with only six minutes remaining.

Braxton Meah then secured a three-point play, granting Nebraska its first lead of the game at 59-58 with 3:26 to play. Williams then made two free throws to extend their lead to 61-60 with 1:33 remaining, successfully converting 5 of 6 free throw attempts in the closing moments to help secure the victory against the Wildcats. Williams finished the match shooting 6 of 14 and also hit a 3-pointer, coupled with 8 out of 10 from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Gary was efficient with 4 of 7 shooting, including two 3-pointers and converting all seven of his free throw attempts. Meah contributed significantly as well, recording 10 points and seven rebounds off the bench.

Northwestern was led by Berry and Martinelli, each scoring 23 points for the Wildcats, who have now lost three consecutive games and six out of their last seven. Berry recorded 7 of 18 shooting, including 6 of 15 from three-point range, while Martinelli achieved 11 of 25 shooting, contributing additionally with nine rebounds and three steals. The Wildcats initially surged to a 28-11 advantage within the first 12 minutes of the game.

Looking ahead, Nebraska is scheduled to face Penn State on Wednesday, while Northwestern will take on Ohio State this Thursday.
