Monroe nets 20 points as Quinnipiac defeats Iona 79-74

HAMDEN, Conn. — On Sunday, Amarri Monroe played a pivotal role in leading Quinnipiac to a 79-74 victory over Iona, scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The Bobcats improved their record to 16-10 overall and 12-3 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Jaden Zimmerman had a solid performance as well, contributing 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting, along with five rebounds. Doug Young also made his mark with 15 points in the contest.

On the opposing side, Dejour Reaves was the standout player for the Gaels, as he scored 15 points while also securing six rebounds, dishing out four assists, and recording six steals. Justin Menard added 13 points to Iona’s total, while Luke Jungers chipped in with 12 points, complemented by three steals and two blocks.

This close matchup showcased the competitive nature of both teams within the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. With this victory, Quinnipiac continues to position itself as a contender in the league.
