LIMA, Peru — Shakira, the renowned Colombian singer, has had to cancel her concert in Lima scheduled for Sunday due to an abdominal health issue that necessitated her hospitalization. This information was revealed by the artist herself through a statement posted on her social media platforms, where she indicated that medical professionals have advised her against performing.

In her heartfelt message, Shakira expressed her disappointment about missing the opportunity to perform, stating, “I am very sad that I will not be able to take the stage today. I have been deeply emotional and excited about reuniting with my beloved Peruvian audience.”

Shakira arrived in Peru on Friday, anticipating performances over the weekend, as part of her Latin American tour titled “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran.” This tour began following a successful stint in Brazil, where she captivated audiences for two consecutive nights.

The singer received a warm welcome from her fans upon arrival in Lima, with many gathering at the airport to greet her. “Thank you for such an emotional welcome, Lima!” she shared with her followers on Instagram the day before her scheduled performance.

In her update, Shakira mentioned her desire to recover swiftly and return to the stage, sharing plans to reschedule the performance. “My plan is to perform this show as soon as possible. My team and the promoter are already working on a new date,” she added.

The tour supports her latest album, “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran,” which reflects on themes from her highly publicized divorce. The album boasts the hit single “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” and recently earned the prestigious title of Best Latin Pop Album at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

As her tour progresses, Shakira is set to continue her journey across Latin America, with plans to visit Canada and the United States in May, featuring a series of concerts that will extend into June.
