BOSTON — Jill Saulnier played a crucial role in the Boston Fleet’s comeback, contributing with one goal and one assist, while Czech goaltender Klara Peslarova made a significant impact after entering the game in the second period. The Fleet rallied to score four consecutive goals, ultimately defeating the Minnesota Frost with a score of 4-2 in their only home match in February.

The action kicked off when Kendall Coyne Schofield seized a loose puck just inside the blue line, maneuvering around a defender, and found the back of the net against Boston’s starting goalie, Emma Söderberg, at around the 11-minute mark of the first period. Shortly after, at the 13-minute mark, Brooke McQuigge redirected a pass from Kelly Pannek using her skate, extending the Frost’s lead to 2-0.

In the second period, the Fleet decided to switch goalkeepers, bringing in Peslarova for her debut in the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL). The 28-year-old, who had previously played in the Swedish Women’s Hockey League and has been a five-time representative of the Czech National team, was caught off guard but quickly focused after being informed of her role while snacking on an orange. She made an impressive 15 saves, helping the Fleet turn the tide of the game.

Saulnier finally got on the scoreboard at 11:09 of the second period, igniting the Fleet’s offensive surge. She tied the game at 2-2 by executing a clean back-check to steal the puck in her own zone, then set up Susanna Tapani, who scored with a deft backhand shot just under two minutes into the third period.

Hilary Knight then netted the go-ahead goal for Boston at 13:23. As the Frost attempted to mount a comeback by pulling goalie Maddie Rooney for an extra attacker, Alina Müller secured the victory with a shot into the empty net, marking her ninth point in just seven games.

Rooney finished the game with 17 saves on 20 shots, while Söderberg made seven saves on nine shots before her exit.
