ATLANTA — Kara Dunn delivered an impressive performance with 22 points, including nine crucial points in the closing five minutes, leading No. 19 Georgia Tech to a solid 73-62 victory over Wake Forest on Sunday.

Georgia Tech managed to maintain control for most of the game, with their only deficit occurring at 54-53 early in the fourth quarter. A layup from Kayla Blackshear shifted the momentum back in favor of the Yellow Jackets, who held Wake Forest to just eight points over the final eight and a half minutes. Dunn’s back-to-back three-pointers increased Georgia Tech’s lead to 67-58 with two and a half minutes remaining, and a free throw from her extended the lead to 11 points with just 16 seconds left on the clock.

Alongside Dunn, Blackshear contributed significantly with 11 points, eight rebounds, and five assists for Georgia Tech (21-5, 9-5 Atlantic Coast Conference). Danie Carnegie and Tonie Morgan each added 14 points to the team’s total.

Rylie Theuerkauf was the standout for Wake Forest (8-17, 1-13), scoring 20 points. Raegyn Conley and Demeara Hinds supported with 12 points apiece.

The opening quarter saw Georgia Tech extend a lead through a 7-0 run, finishing the first quarter with an 11-point advantage at 24-13. However, the Demon Deacons fought back, outscoring the Yellow Jackets in both the second and third quarters. Theuerkauf shined in the third, adding eight points, and a three-pointer by Tamia Jones brought Wake Forest to within just two points at 50-48 as they headed into the fourth quarter.

Sunday’s matchup also marked Georgia Tech’s annual Play4Kay game, highlighting the team’s commitment to cancer awareness and support.

Looking ahead, Georgia Tech is set to face No. 10 N.C. State on Thursday, while Wake Forest will host SMU on the same day.
