West Palm Beach, Florida — The Washington Nationals have secured a one-year deal with former All-Star infielder Paul DeJong, valued at $1 million.
DeJong has the opportunity to earn an additional $600,000 through performance-based incentives.

Recognized as an All-Star in 2019, DeJong accumulated a batting average of .227, along with 24 home runs and 56 runs batted in during the previous season while playing for the Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals, who added him to their roster on July 30.

In his eight years in Major League Baseball, DeJong has recorded a batting average of .229, hitting a total of 140 home runs and driving in 400 RBIs. His tenure includes time spent with teams such as the St. Louis Cardinals from 2017 to 2023, as well as recent stints with the Toronto Blue Jays and San Francisco Giants, both in 2023, along with his time with the White Sox and Royals.

The Nationals made the announcement regarding DeJong’s signing on Sunday, coinciding with the news that right-handed pitcher Josiah Gray has been placed on the 60-day injured list.
