TEMPE, Ariz. — In a thrilling showdown on Saturday night, Jace Posey, a freshman for TCU, made a significant impact off the bench by scoring a personal-best 20 points, while Noah Reynolds contributed with a crucial go-ahead 3-pointer in the closing moments, leading to a hard-fought 74-70 victory over Arizona State. This marks the fifth consecutive defeat for the Sun Devils.

Arizona State made a valiant effort with BJ Freeman, who showcased his skills by hitting two 3-pointers and a layup, helping propel the team to a 14-4 scoring run that tied the game at 67 with just 43 seconds left on the clock. However, Reynolds quickly responded, sinking a critical 3-pointer with only 18 seconds remaining. Vasean Allette then sealed TCU’s win by successfully making all four of his free throws in the final tense seconds.

Posey demonstrated remarkable efficiency, converting 6 of 8 attempts from the field and hitting 8 of 10 free throws for the Horned Frogs (14-11, 7-7 in Big 12 Conference play), also contributing six rebounds and two steals. Reynolds finished with 19 points, making 6 of 14 shots, including two 3-pointers, and hitting 5 of 7 from the charity stripe. Allette rounded out TCU’s standout performances with 14 points and nine rebounds.

On the other side, Freeman led the Sun Devils (12-13, 3-11) with 21 points and five 3-pointers. Teammates Alston Mason and Shawn Phillips Jr. made significant contributions as well, scoring 12 points each, with Mason dishing out nine assists and Phillips grabbing eight rebounds. Additionally, Basheer Jihad added 11 points to the effort.

Reynolds and Posey’s early contributions were pivotal in helping TCU establish a 38-31 lead as they went into halftime. TCU maintained their momentum, with Allette managing two free throws to extend their lead to 59-46 with 9:52 left in the contest.
