Lundblade scores 19 to guide Belmont to a 73-68 victory over Southern Illinois

    CARBONDALE, Ill.
    – On Saturday night, Belmont secured a 73-68 victory over Southern Illinois with a standout performance from Tyler Lundblade, who contributed 19 points to the Bruins’ win.
    Lundblade displayed impressive shooting skills, making 6 of 11 attempts and hitting 6 out of 8 from three-point territory for Belmont, which improved to 18-9 overall and 10-6 in the Missouri Valley Conference.
    Carter Whitt also played a significant role in the game, scoring 17 points while shooting 6 of 16 and successfully sinking 2 of 6 shots from beyond the arc, alongside converting 3 of 5 free throws.
    In addition, both Jonathan Pierre and Brody Peebles chipped in with 10 points each.
    For Southern Illinois, Ali Abdou Dibba led the team with 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Kennard Davis contributed 13 points to the scoreboard.
    Drew Steffe also registered 10 points along with four assists, helping the Salukis, who now stand at 12-15 overall and 7-9 in the conference.
    Peebles was effective in the first half, scoring 10 points; however, Belmont found itself trailing 38-25 at halftime.
    The Bruins rallied in the second half with Lundblade netting 16 points, propelling them to a narrow five-point win.
    Looking ahead, both teams will return to action on Wednesday. Belmont will host Northern Iowa, and Southern Illinois will travel to face Murray State.
