Richards scores 21 as McNeese defeats New Orleans 78-64

DJ Richards made a significant impact in leading McNeese to a 78-64 victory over New Orleans on Saturday night, scoring 21 points in the process.
Richards was highly efficient, hitting 7 of his 11 attempts from the field, which included a remarkable 6 for 9 performance from beyond the arc.
He also contributed 1 for 3 in free shots for the Cowboys, who improved their record to 20 wins and 6 losses overall, along with 14 wins and 1 loss in the Southland Conference.
Brandon Murray was another key player for McNeese, adding 17 points on 6 of 9 shooting, with three of those shots coming from three-point territory.
The team also showcased strong defensive play, registering four blocks. Christian Shumate had a notable night, shooting 7 of 8 from the floor, resulting in 14 points, coupled with seven rebounds grabbed.

On the other side, Leland Coleman was a standout performer for the Privateers, tallying 15 points along with four assists and two blocks.

Unfortunately for New Orleans, this defeat marked the eighth consecutive loss for the team, as they continue to struggle this season.

McNeese will be traveling to face Southeastern Louisiana, while New Orleans will host Nicholls State in an effort to turn their fortunes around.
