Banks nets 23 points as UNC Asheville narrowly defeats Charleston Southern 75-72

    ASHEVILLE, N.C. — In a thrilling match on Saturday night, UNC Asheville secured a narrow 75-72 victory over Charleston Southern, largely due to Josh Banks’ impressive 23-point performance.

    Banks demonstrated solid shooting skills, hitting 7 of 18 attempts from the field, including 3 out of 9 from beyond the arc, while also going a perfect 6 for 6 at the free-throw line. This victory improved the Bulldogs’ record to 19-7 overall and 10-2 in the Big South Conference.

    Toyaz Solomon was another key contributor for UNC Asheville, racking up 17 points with a shooting efficiency of 6 for 10 and 5 for 6 at the charity stripe, along with grabbing eight rebounds. Jordan Marsh also made his presence felt, contributing 14 points and completing 7 of his 18 field goals.

    For Charleston Southern (10-18, 6-7), Taje’ Kelly stood out by leading his team with 21 points and pulling down eight rebounds. Lamar Oden Jr. provided additional support, scoring 20 points and securing six rebounds, while RJ Johnson chipped in with 12 points and provided five assists.

    Looking ahead, UNC Asheville will face Radford on the road this Thursday, while Charleston Southern is set to take on High Point on Wednesday.
