    CONWAY, S.C. — In an intense matchup on Saturday, Mark Freeman contributed greatly with 23 points, enabling James Madison to narrowly defeat Coastal Carolina with a final score of 74-73. This loss marked the 12th consecutive defeat for the Chanticleers.

    Freeman’s overall shooting performance included 6 successful attempts out of 16 (with only 2 out of 10 from beyond the arc) and an impressive 9 out of 10 from the free-throw line. For James Madison, which now holds a record of 17-10 and 10-4 in the Sun Belt Conference, Xavier Brown also made a significant impact with 18 points and six rebounds, while Bryce Lindsay added another 16 points to the tally.

    On the other side of the court, the Chanticleers, now standing at 8-19 with a conference record of 1-13, saw their scoring leader Joshua Meo net 20 points. Supporting him were Rasheed Jones with 16 points and Jordan Battle who contributed 14 to the team’s efforts.
