MACOMB, Ill. — In a thrilling matchup on Saturday, Ryan Myers delivered a standout performance for Western Illinois, scoring 28 points in a narrow 72-67 victory over Morehead State.
Myers showcased his shooting skills, hitting 9 of 17 attempts from the field, including an impressive 4 for 6 from beyond the arc. He also contributed significantly from the free-throw line, finishing 6 for 8. Alongside him, Trey Deveaux added 17 points with an accurate shooting touch, going 6 of 10 overall and a perfect 4 for 4 from three-point range, while also grabbing 11 rebounds. Marko Maletic was another key player for the Leathernecks, contributing 14 points with a shooting line of 3 of 10 from the field, including 2 for 7 from three-point territory, and he was 6 for 8 at the charity stripe.
On the other side of the court, Morehead State was led by Anouar Mellouk, who scored 13 points and collected eight rebounds. Kenny White Jr. also made a notable impact with 12 points, seven rebounds, and two steals. Khouri Carvey rounded out the Eagles’ contributions with 10 points and seven rebounds.
This victory improved Western Illinois’ record to 10-17 overall and 4-12 in the Ohio Valley Conference, while Morehead State stood at 14-13 with a conference record of 9-7.
