WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — In an impressive performance, Matteus Case contributed significantly to the William & Mary Tribe’s victory over Drexel, ending the game with 19 points and leading his team to a final score of 72-59 on Saturday.
Case demonstrated accuracy by shooting 8 out of 10 from the field, showcasing his offensive prowess. His teammates also stepped up, with Gabe Dorsey adding 17 points alongside seven rebounds, while Chase Lowe scored nine points, demonstrating remarkable shooting skills with 3 out of 6 from the field and a perfect 3 out of 3 from the free-throw line.
On the other side, Drexel’s effort was led by Shane Blakeney, who recorded 15 points. Yame Butler followed closely with 14 points to contribute to the Dragons’ score, while Jason Drake rounded out the key contributors with 11 points and five assists.
In the first half, Dorsey was particularly effective, scoring 12 points and keeping the Tribe competitive as they trailed by a narrow margin of 43-38 at halftime. The tide turned in the second half when William & Mary embarked on a critical 7-0 run that not only erased their four-point deficit but also allowed them to take a 54-51 lead with just under ten minutes remaining in the game. Case was pivotal in this comeback, scoring 11 points in the second half to help ensure the team’s victory.
