A small aircraft met with tragedy on Saturday in Brazil’s southeastern Sao Paulo state, resulting in the loss of two lives, according to official reports.
The private plane crashed in a densely vegetated area within the municipality of Quadra, situated approximately 100 miles (or 160 kilometers) from the state capital, Sao Paulo.
Emergency responders, including local firefighters, located two lifeless bodies at the crash site, which were reportedly charred beyond recognition. The identities of the deceased individuals have not been disclosed by authorities.
Prior to this incident, the Brazilian Air Force had noted a total of 19 airplane accidents within the year, with five of those incidents resulting in fatalities, illustrating ongoing concerns regarding aviation safety in the region.
Notably, on February 7, another small plane crash occurred shortly after takeoff from a private airport, landing on an avenue in Sao Paulo. That accident tragically claimed the lives of both the pilot and the aircraft’s owner.
Additionally, an earlier crash in August in Vinhedo, close to Sao Paulo, was even more catastrophic, resulting in the death of all 72 individuals aboard the aircraft.
