A luxurious hotel and restaurant in London, known for attracting celebrity clientele, experienced a significant fire that led to the evacuation of nearly 100 individuals, according to fire service reports.

The incident occurred at the Chiltern Firehouse located in the Marylebone district, where more than 100 firefighters, supported by 20 fire engines, battled the flames for several hours on Friday, as stated by the London Fire Brigade.

This iconic red brick building, which was once a fire station established in the late 19th century, has hosted numerous famous personalities including Madonna, Kylie Minogue, and Tom Cruise, making it a significant venue in the city.

The hotel was set to host a Netflix celebration following the BAFTA awards ceremony scheduled for Sunday, adding to the gravity of the incident.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, and the fire was eventually contained by late Friday evening.

According to the fire brigade, the blaze originated in the ducting on the ground floor and rapidly spread to the roof of the four-story establishment. The cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time.

Fire crews faced several challenges while navigating through the complex architecture of the historic building, but they effectively managed to contain the outbreak.

The hotel’s proprietor, Andre Balazs, announced that the establishment would remain closed pending further updates on the situation.
