ALBANY, N.Y. — In an intense matchup on Friday night, Elijah Lewis contributed a crucial 14 points, with his layup just 24 seconds remaining helping propel Marist to a narrow victory over Siena, finishing 65-64.
Lewis exhibited a commendable performance, hitting 5 of his 10 attempts from the field, including 2 three-pointers out of 4 attempts, aiding the Red Foxes’ (17-5, 10-3 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) strong campaign. Alongside him, Josh Pascarelli added 12 points while shooting 3 for 11 overall and delivering an impressive 3 for 5 from the three-point line, also converting all his free throw attempts. Tarik Watson contributed with eight points, successfully hitting 4 of 8 shots.
Siena’s standout player was Gavin Doty, who scored an impressive 20 points and also grabbed seven rebounds and made two steals. Justice Shoats followed closely, contributing 16 points along with three steals. Meanwhile, Major Freeman also highlighted the scoreboard with 16 points of his own.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to re-enter action on Sunday. Marist will be traveling to face Merrimack, while Siena will be on the road to take on Sacred Heart.
